Summer Fun: Banana Republic and Milly Collaborate
Looking ahead to the sunshine and fun of summer, Banana Republic and Milly have joined forces for a limited edition lineup.
The Summer 2013 capsule collection is said to channel the spirit and sophistication of the uber-popular Hamptons vacation spot, owing to Milly founder and designer Michelle Smith’s own vision.
Banana Republic creative director Simon Kneen explained, "We wanted to focus on the vibrant colors and optimistic patterns that highlight the inspiring, fun-loving summer season."
"Michelle's keen sense of color, print and pattern are the perfect complement to Banana Republic, and her Hamptons-chic style is a new take on aspirational summer dressing for our consumers."
Accordingly, the 60+ piece collection includes six new prints by Smith featured on maxi dresses, miniskirts, shorts and scarves, as well as jewelry and accessories. Pricing starts at $39.50 and goes up to $130.
Smith added, "I've always been a fan of Banana Republic, and when I met Simon we had an immediate and lasting connection. This was my first experience designing menswear, which was a cinch with Simon's expertise. It's a very positive, happy collection and I think the colors and patterns really capture the modern spirit of summer."
