Oscar de la Renta's New Fragrance is Something Blue
Oscar de la Renta wants to you to wear something new ... and blue. His new women’s fragrance, Something Blue, hits stores next week and was inspired by none-other-than The Big Day.
The wedding-themed scent is filled with linden blossom, mandarian and a "heart of stephanotis" — a white flower that you've probably come across in wedding bouquets. In keeping with his couture bridal line, de la Renta designed an exquisite bottle to complement the bride who wears it. The shade of the blue cap was borrowed from a stone called Larimar in the Dominican Republic. “We wanted to use the actual stone,” said de la Renta, “but it was so unbelievably expensive that we had to refabricate it [in plastic].” To top it off, there's a ring around the bottle that can actually be worn!
But the scent isn't just for brides — Michele de Bourbon, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the fragrance division said, “We wanted to go beyond bridal. We wanted it to be a lifestyle [fragrance].”
And no wedding is without a little bit of drama; de la Renta says with Something Blue, he hopes to "take away a little bit [of business] from Eternity" — the most successful fragrance line by Calvin Klein.
To wear the scent, it'll cost between $85 and $115.
